25. Tips and Techniques
Search Tips
You can specify your search criteria for all available fields. The fields may vary for different tables, but they will be one of the following types:
Text
You can use an exact match, or * for wildcards as placeholders for characters when searching for a text. In the latter case, you:
Know only part of the text.
Want to find values that start with a specific letter or match a certain pattern.
The * can be used at the beginning or the middle of a text to search for. As an example, you can type in *Tea* or Inkjet*Print*.
Note: To search for an empty string, you must select the checkbox for the required field with an empty string in the Text Box. Please note that any spaces entered in a text field will be used in the search criteria if the checkbox is selected.
RecordID
You will be able to type in a number, or select an ID from a dropdown when available.
Date
You can select a range of dates by choosing a comparison operator from the dropdown such as <=. Then, you can select a date from the Date popup. Alternatively, you can search for a single date by choosing = in the dropdown.
Number
This can be a rate, a price or some number. You can search for a range of values by choosing a comparison operator from the
dropdown such as <=. Then you can type in the value. You may also search for a single number by choosing = in the dropdown.
After choosing your criteria, press the Search Button. The search is then executed and the result matching the criteria will be displayed in the Search Result grid.
Notes

When a value is added to the criteria, the checkbox is automatically checked. To clear one value, you may uncheck the checkbox. To clear all the criteria, you may press the Clear Button.

You can execute a search without any criteria: In that case, all records in the current table will be returned in the list.
